My measure of success was based on how much money their games were making commercially, yes. So quit your hating on the mf'in hand that feeds. I complain about game-as-service too, but it's just good business for keeping the lights on and the ceiling fan turning. But some games just make less (a lot less) by virtue of its appeal and player-base while carrying the same financial risk.

Not to mention gamers being a fickle bunch. Getting an investment for your company based on its success isn't success, what is? Let's get something straight now, making new games and banking on its success with nothing but talent, reputation, and a prayer is still hugely risky. By your logic Valve also isn't a successful game company when they stopped making games and started making money. Make of that what you will? That's some barely-veiled xenophobia there buddy.
